“Annie Hall 2,” “The Godfather Part IV,” and “Do The Right Thing 2” are all filming in New York City right now. Or are they?
Residents of the city have been seeing fake filming location signs around town that request vehicles to be moved for projects that are being called sequels to some of cinema’s greatest classics. The prank was created by Jason Eppink and Mike Lacher, who are also known for the “tourist lane” on the streets of New York City.
“Mike Lacher and I decided to invent terrible hypothetical sequels for movies based in New York City and post “no parking” signs for these fictional film shoots,” Eppink said on his website.
Since the first sign, “Annie Hall 2,” the duo has begun to see copycats in the form of other New York movie classics. So don’t be alarmed if “Taxi Driver 2” or “Midnight Cowboy 2” make their way to the streets of the Big Apple very soon.
