Actor Robert De Niro with Briny Breezes General Manager Theresa Pussinen
UPDATE: The Coastal Star reports De Niro and the crew of “The Comedian” also filmed a couple shots in front of the clubhouse in Briny Breezes with the actor capturing a photo with general manager Theresa Pussinen.
If you were in the Delray Beach area recently, you may have seen a famous actor shopping along Atlantic Avenue.
Robert De Niro, Leslie Mann, and Harvey Keitel were in Delray Beach and Boynton Beach filming the latest film from director Taylor Hackford, “The Comedian.” This is Hackford’s second time filming in Palm Beach County after the director filmed his 2013 action-thriller, “Parker,” starring Jason Statham and Jennifer Lopez at the Royal Park Bridge and Boca Raton Resort & Club.
The film follows an aging insult comedian (played by De Niro) and also stars Danny DeVito, Cloris Leachman, and Hannibal Buress. Mann joined the cast after Jennifer Aniston backed out of the movie in January.
Christy Andreoni, production director with the Palm Beach County Film and Television Commission, said that “The Comedian” filmed at the Seagate Manor Condominium in Delray Beach and did some flashback interiors at the WXEL Studio in Boynton Beach. They also filmed a driving sequence where they drove in a yellow convertible from Delray to Palm Beach along A1A with a police escort.
According to Andreoni, De Niro stayed in Delray and “loved” the area, where he also did some shopping along Atlantic Avenue. She added that Hackford was glad to come back to Palm Beach County because he was a fan of the crews in the area.
De Niro has recently shown up in Palm Beach County after his recent film, “Dirty Grandpa,” made Boca Raton its end destination in the road trip comedy that also starred Zac Efron. The connection continue as Efron was also in Palm Beach County filming the remake of “Baywatch” with Dwayne Johnson earlier this year.
