De Niro is making his way to Palm Beach County with Zac Efron. Well, at least he is in a new movie.
“Dirty Grandpa,” which stars De Niro as Efron’s grandfather, follows the two stars on a road-trip a la “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles” or “The Hangover” as they make their way down to Boca Raton, where De Niro’s character will spend his time following the death of his wife. Along the way, Dick (De Niro) looks to enjoy the perks of single life and takes a short detour to Daytona Beach, where he and Jason (Efron) enjoy the pleasures of spring break.
The film comes from a Black List script by John Phillips and is directed by Dan Mazer with Aubrey Plaza, Jason Mantzoukas, and Julianne Hough making up the rest of the cast.
This isn’t the first time that Boca Raton, or Palm Beach County, has either been the destination or shooting location for a film. The area is famous for scenes in “Caddyshack,” “Marley & Me,” “2 Fast 2 Furious,” and “Body Heat.”
“Dirty Grandpa” opens in theaters on January 22, 2016.
